64 Days ’til Comic-Con

I can’t even stand it! With no school work to do, I’ve been getting back into my old routine of geeking out with tv and movies and video games and books. Seriously in LOVE with Game of Thrones right now – both the HBO series and the book (I’m a noob to A Song of Ice and Fire). All I can think about is, 64 days ’til I track down and possibly harass the poor young man who plays Jon Snow. I don’t even know his name; in my mind, he is Jon Snow, and I will happily help him break his oath. Sure, they will track us down and behead us, but, please. Worth it!

Srsly, I'm so handsome and honourable, even I can barely stand it... you fangirls don't stand a chance!

 Yeah… that’s pretty much it.

My New Celebrity Crush and the Hypercube Experience

One of my newerish can’t miss tv shows is V. I picked this one up from the get go, got hooked, and begrudgingly stuck with it through a ridiculously long mid-season hiatus last year, then waited not-so-patiently for it to return for a second season this year. Now about half way through season 2, I feel like it’s really hitting its stride. The action is bigger, character development is stronger, and the plot has definitely thickened. Plus we were finally treated to not one, but two excellent Hobbes-sans-shirt scenes this week, including a super hot makeout with Erica. Yomch!

Which brings me to my new celebrity crush: Charles Mesure. Manly man muscles meets Aussie accent. Delish! And of course he has to play the bad boy type, because that’s how I do.

Please enjoy this delicious screen cap, which I shamlessly stole from Squarehippies.com, who may have gotten it from ABC:

"Help, I've been shot and I can't get my shirt back on!" -- Don't you dare help him!

In other, slightly-less-sexy news, I had a delicious mini-cake last night called The Experience courtesy of @Hypercube, who was ROBBED of a chance to win mega moolah for her delightful creation in the Recipe to Riches Canadian tv cooking competition. Chocolatey goodness with a kick of spice, I was suprised to disover that this cake was also apparently good for me! Never fear, I have convinced this lovely lass to bake me 100 of her tiny chocolate marvels for a charity event I’m throwing in April, so her efforts and talents will be put to good use.  Hey, @recipetoriches, not only does this cake taste GREAT, it has to be said, I felt the texture was PERFECT! Moist and cakey without being sticky. Yeah, I said it.

Christmas, Christmas time is here!

Warning: If you’re offended by the overcommercializtion of the celebration of baby Santa’s birth, you probably want to leave now…

It’s Decemeber! That time of year when it becomes socially acceptable to begin celebrating the holiday season! Personally, I like to get started November 1st, because I’m Canadian and we’re better able to just roll straight out of Halloween into Christmas, having gotten that pesky Thanksgiving out of the way in October. Also, it’s my personal belief that Christmas is awesome enough to totally fill up two months worth of celebrating. Continue reading

Angry Birds!

Not much to say, other than I love it, and I’m presently the 99th best Angry Birds player in Canada :)

This is not a Mighty Hoax.

Also, here’s a funny Angry Birds related video: Continue reading

No Buffy Without Joss!

Gah, first FOX all but kills Fringe, and now this rebooted Buffy movie business with Warner Brothers. Two huge #mads in the space of a single – albeit extended – weekend!

As if you haven’t already heard, WB intends to “reboot” Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, sans Joss Whedon. The news is everywhere the discerning Whedonite cares to look, so I won’t rehash all the gory details here. You can easily Google up the atrocity for yourself if you need to. Continue reading

If nothing else, FOX is certainly consistent

Allow me to first state for the record that I do not presently watch Fringe. However, I did watch the first 6 episodes when it came out, and I did thoroughly enjoy it. But life happened and I found that I couldn’t fit it in to my viewing schedule (this was pre-PVR for me) and there were already just too many shows that I loved at the time.

That said, I have continued to hear great things about the show from people I know who have similar television tastes as I do, and I had always planned on picking it up again at some point. This is why I was saddened to hear the news today that FOX has given Fringe the Friday kiss of death. Starting in January, the cult hit has been moved to Fridays at 9pm. Continue reading

I AM the Pumpkin King!

I love this time of year… just had a lovely Thanksgiving with the family, Halloween is fast approaching, and then Christmas is just around the corner. Gone are those disgustingly hot summer days, and the curling season is in full swing.  Happy times :)

*ignores mountaneous pile of school work*

Undoubtedly, the best way to properly kick off the multi-holiday season is with a viewing of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, because it wraps up all the Halloweeny-Christmassy goodness into one awesome visual and musical extravaganza. It’s one of my all-time favourite films, though I haven’t had time yet to watch it this year (too many awesome movies on the new cable box. *ignores school some more*). Soon enough, Jack. Soon enough.

In the meantime, I carved my jack-o-lantern in honour of the infamous Pumpkin King, check him out!

This is Halloween!
